the koi house
set in bukit tunku, surrounded on three
sides by roads and sunken lower than
the road levels, the focus of this house
is the owner’s passion – koi fish. Measuring
10m x 4m, the koi pond is housed
in an elliptical four-floor high structure
which recalls the soaring spaces
of Victorian conservatory with a tropical
twist. This conservatory is naturally
ventilated because its wall is
made of timber louvers and the roof
has a large hole in it allowing free
movement of the warm tropical air.
On the two longer sides of this conservatory
are the house proper. The
conservatory allows deep penetration
of the natural air flow into the house
and also allows visual connections between
all parts of the house. |
