Padiberas Nasional Berhad Corporate Office
To consolidate and streamline its operations,
Bernas has relocated all its
various offices, previously spread
throughout Kuala Lumpur, to the city
centre to occupy ten floors of Menara
HLA at Jalan Kia Peng.
Our proposal for the interior design of
the new corporate headquarters had
to accommodate very specific spatial
requirements for each floor. These
range from a children’s nursery, training
rooms, business center, common &
corporate offices, to suraus and a
communal gymnasium at the topmost
level.
Our approach was to design a clean
contemporary, uncluttered working environment.
Clear and easy access to
all departments is via a common corridor
encircling the services core of the
building. Glass is used extensively, allowing
maximum natural lighting into
the interors, while its transparency
creates lightness and layering of
space. Curves were introduced to
soften the usual rigidity of office
spaces, leading to different nodes
which create variety and help to distinguish
and to orientate between the
various deparments.
Modular sized panels were used to create
rooms and partitions. This allows
for ease of construction. The choice
of materials range from gypsum board
for common offices, to glass for meeting
rooms, timber for corporate offices
and signage walls.
This design approach was thus repeated
over all floors to create a consistency
in floor planning, and more
importantly, a corporate identity
through all the floors of Bernas new
corporate headquaters.
